Fairfax, VA (April 28, 2008) – Rugby Virginia is pleased to announce that the 1st Virginia State High School Rugby Championship will be contested on June 7, 2008 at the 5,000 seat South County Secondary School Stadium (www.fcps.edu/southcountyss/index3.html), Lorton, Fairfax County, Virginia.  Match times will be determined.

"It’s exciting to know that the League will be able to showcase its championship at a first -class facility such as South County so that spectators will be able to witness the tremendous sport that is rugby" said Rugby Virginia’s Executive Director, Frederic Bardot.  "We hope to make this event memorable for players and fans alike."

The Virginia State Rugby Championship will include a girl’s jamboree, boy’s third place match and boy’s championship match.  In addition, there will be a youth rugby exhibition and an announcement of the Rugby Virginia boys all star team.

Rugby Virginia owes a lot of its success to its partner and championship title sponsor, the Virginia National Guard.  "The Virginia’s National Guard association with Virginia high school rugby is positive.  Rugby players are dedicated and hard working athletes.  We look forward to see the Championship" said SFC Trent Baker from the Virginia National Guard.
