Youth Summer Rugby
During the summer, Rugby Virginia offers 7-a-side rugby, both contact and
non-contact, for girls and boys.
The season runs from early June and ends
with the Youth Summer Rugby
Tournament in late July or early August.

Youth Rugby
There are currently some 20 youth rugby clubs in Virginia
playing in the summer. A full list of clubs and

These clubs provide a mixture of non-contact (touch) and
tackle rugby in various age groups.

Statement on Mixed Gender Contact Rugby
Touch: u-8,
u-9, u-11, u-13, u-15. All touch teams are coed. Children play
2-hand touch “7sâ€rugby (7 players per team on the field). The 2-hand
touch game is the only difference from the standard game. All the
other rules apply.
Tackle:
boys u-13, boys u-15, boys u-17, girls u-15, and girls u-17. The
modified tackle game provides kids with a safe introduction to tackle rugby.
All other elements of rugby – including scrums (uncontested), and lineouts
are allowed

The Laws that shall be applied to summer youth rugby by referees officiating
youth rugby matches played under the auspices of Rugby Virginia are
