Youth Rugby

There are currently some 17 youth rugby clubs in Virginia playing in the summer.  A full list of clubs and contact information is available at: Youth Summer Rugby - Clubs
See also Youth Rugby FAQs and Schedules - Touch and Tackle.

These clubs provide a mixture of non-contact (touch) and tackle rugby in various age groups.

See: Rugby Virginia: Position Statement on Mixed Gender Contact Rugby

Touch: u-8, u-9, u-11, u-13, u-15.  All touch teams are coed.  Children play 2-hand touch “7s”rugby (7 players per team on the field).  The 2-hand touch game is the only difference from the standard game.  All the other rules apply.

Tackle: boys u-13, boys u-15, boys u-17, girls u-15, and girls u-17.  The modified tackle game provides kids with a safe introduction to tackle rugby.  All other elements of rugby – including scrums (uncontested), and lineouts are allowed
